Glimmerrocks.com is one of a select group of online jewelers to receive the VIDPA seal. The stringent requirements to receive a VIDPA certification are unattainable by most online jewelers.

With the advent of the Internet and marketing of diamonds online, an organization such as VIDPA is of utmost importance today. VIDPA is the consumer’s protection agency when it comes to online diamond and jewelry purchases.

Other organizations that you see on other jewelry web sites, such as the Jeweler’s Board of Trade and others, are in existence to protect the interests of the jewelers first. We think these organizations are essential but VIDPA is different in that it exists to protect the interests of you, the customer, and no one else.

Each online jeweler and the diamonds marketed by the jeweler must be represented correctly and come from legitimate sources to attain VIDPA certification. Most jewelers are simply not willing to submit their entire process to VIDPA for certification. The reasons are of dubious nature.

The fact of the matter is that the Diamond business has many more variables than just Cut, Color and Clarity, as they would have you believe. These secondary variables consist of Depth, Girdle, Table Crown Angles and others. Jewelers use these secondary variables to come up with the Cut rating of each diamond they sell. These variables affect the brilliancy of all Diamonds. Unfortunately, these items are not noticeable to the naked eye and worse still most jewelers online are not qualified to assign these grades. Because of this, many diamond retailers are making inaccurate representations to increase profit.
